Ahead of his forthcoming release ‘Brahmotsavam’, Mahesh Babu talks about his experience of working for the family drama, director Sreekanth Addala and next project
Mahesh Babu is enjoying the best of both the worlds spending quality time with family and working in films that belong to family genre. While ‘Srimanthudu’ has lifted his spirits and gave a new lease of life to him, the superstar is back with ‘Brahmotsavam’, again a family drama, a familiar turf for the actor.
So what made him to star in the family drama, “I was basically hooked to the plotline and the screenplay. I see a great potential in the subject and I like Sreekanth Addala’s unique storytelling. Also, I was fascinated with my character, which I have not done earlier. Although a family entertainer, the film shows me in different shades and has no influences of my earlier films. It’s a subject that is made without deviating from the core emotion”, he reasons.
According to him, this film has a fresh concept, and as an actor, he always wants to tread uncharted territory. “The film is all about relationships people have on different levels. I was excited with the subject when I first heard it because I have not touched such a film so far,” he points out.
The actor is teaming up with the director for the second time after ‘Seethamma Vaakilto Sirimalle Chettu’. Ask Mahesh how different the director is from their earlier outing, “There’s hardly any difference and Sreekanth is still the same very quiet, observant and always focused. Initially, he was a bit nervous since the film had an ensemble cast and there were a few jitters in the first few days (smiles) but later he felt comfortable. I really enjoyed working with him once again,” Mahesh opines.
For someone who always puts family ahead of work, how difficult was it to look the part in the family drama? The actor admits, “I need to unlearn a few things like being as natural as possible, change mannerisms for the camera, etc. and was trying to be myself. it was difficult to get into the role initially but that happens to everyone at the start”, he smiles.
The teaser and the first look have garnered curiosity. Does that put pressure on the filmmakers to reach the expectations? Pat comes the reply, “Not at all! We are very excited and confident of the project. We believe in the script, which accentuates on family values. We’re very happy with the response we got and eagerly looking forward to the release.” Commenting on his next project, he said, “My next film is with director Murugadoss and it’s a dream come true for me to work with him.”
