After bringing in the Ford Figo Aspire and the Figo hatchback last year, Ford has moved their attention to one of their oldest marques in India, the Endeavour. The new Ford Endeavour has been launched in India priced at Rs 23,63,999 (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Ford Endeavour will only get diesel engines (both over the 2.0-litre mark) and is available with a range of drive train choices including automatic and manual gearbox and a rear wheel drive or all-wheel-drive setup.
The new Ford Endeavour is particularly interesting as it gets butch styling that is very current and looks quite attractive. Gone is the right-angled squarish stance of the older car replaced by slightly softer curves that seem to accentuate the large dimensions of the large American SUV. The projector headlamps along with the daytime running lights combined with the silver finished scuff plates and large alloy wheels go well with the car giving it a modern SUV look.
The Ford Endeavour has been launched with two diesel engine options - a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder and a 3.2-litre 5-cylinder unit. The cheaper 2.2 Endeavour makes 160PS of power and 385Nm of torque. The more 3.2 Endeavour on the other hand makes 200PS of peak power and pumps out 470Nm of peak torque. The 2.2-litre unit comes with both a manual and an automatic gearbox while the 3.2-litre unit comes only with the 6-speed automatic.
The Ford Endeavour is also very well equipped with a large touchscreen and satellite navigation, electrically folding rear seats, an electric tail gate and a large panoramic sun roof on the 3.2-litre model. The car also gets a host of other features like Active Park Assist, Sync 2 Voice Command System, Hill Descent, Electronic Hill Descent, Electronic Stability Control and more. The Ford Endeavour will go up against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, SsangYong Rexton and the Chevrolet Trailblazer in India and should see brisk sales.
