Karnataka is likely to seek relief on the Supreme Court order for constituting Cauvery Management Board within four weeks as the State’s Special Leave Petition challenging the final award of Cauvery Tribunal is still pending before the apex court and set to come up for hearing on October 18.  Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has drawn the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to state government’s proposal to move the SC.

In a letter to Modi, the Chief Minister said, “in the light of the resolution passed by both the Houses of state legislature, the state government has proposed to move an application before the SC on Monday seeking an appropriate modification of the interim order dated 20 September permitting Karnataka to account water before the end of the season in January 2017, instead of accounting on 27.09.2016 as directed in the said interim order.”
