According to weather reports, the cold wave is likely to intensify in the coming days. Foggy weather around New Delhi and adjoining areas continued to disrupt flight and train services even on Thursday. News agency ANI reported that as many as 53 trains were arriving late in New Delhi. Poor visibility on the tracks led to rescheduling of 23 trains. 13 trains were cancelled leaving passengers in the capital distraught.
Air transport services suffered the same condition. Low visibility on the runway had been causing a lot of cancellations and delays over the past few days. On Thursday, five arriving international flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport were delayed. Early morning reports suggest that three domestic flights were delayed and one was cancelled. The northern India region is reeling under a cold spell leading to frequent cancellation and delay of transport services. Even on Wednesday as many as 61 trains had been running late at the New Delhi railway station. In Uttar Pradesh, 17 trains were running late on Wednesday.
Foggy weather conditions in states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar and Haryana caused inconvenience in roadway transport services as well. Low visibility on the highways caused states like Uttar Pradesh to experience connectivity issues. However, there may not be any respite soon.
