The much-awaited fee structure for engineering courses in private un-aided professional institutions in the state, for the block period of 2016-17 to 2018-19, was notified by the state government on Friday. The fee structure for 273 private un-aided professional institutions was fixed between `35,000 and `1.1 lakh per annum. Majority of the colleges' fee was fixed below `60,000 per annum. The present fee structure finalised by the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC) will be forwarded to all the universities in the state and as well to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
According to a GO issued here, the fee recommended by the AFRC for the block period 2016-17 to 2018-19 is based on the details uploaded by the institutions online. “If it is found that any of the data given by the institutions is not correct, the fee will be revised at a later date and these facts will be informed to the University concerned and AICTE for taking necessary action in accordance with law. Besides, such institutions/colleges including the persons responsible will be liable for penal consequences,” the order stated. The institutions would not be allowed to charge any capitation fee or any amount unauthorisedly or illegally under any other head or guise other than the fee fixed by the panel, the order said.
