Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi on June 14 to discuss important issues relating to Tamil Nadu. She will be back in Chennai the same day. This is her first visit to the national capital after assuming office and comes after a gap of two years.
The Chief Minister will be presenting a memorandum to the Prime Minister on the requirements of Tamil Nadu and the pending issues to be resolved. She may be also meeting Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and some senior Ministers at Delhi to put forth specific demands.
Immediate formation of the Cauvery Management Board and Cauvery Water Regulation Board to implement the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, fishermen’s woes at the hands of Lankan Navy and higher financial allocations for the State on various heads, pending railway projects etc., are among the key issues expected to be the highlights of the memorandum.
